Do your clients ever ask for your help submitting claims to their insurance company? If so, we have a permanent solution for you!
Over the last few years, we have been adding and updating features to Owl Practice, keeping us at the forefront of practice management tools in Canada. From adding comprehensive Video Therapy functionality to reworking the way you manage intake and consent forms, we’re constantly working with practitioners across the country to help them run and grow their businesses.
We want to let you know about a brand-new payment option to Owl Practice that we recently added: TELUS eClaims! We hope that this feature will give your clients an easy and frictionless way to pay for their sessions and your services.
TELUS eClaims is an incredibly easy-to-use service that allows you to submit claims on your clients’ behalf. This will help reduce your clients’ out-of-pocket expenses and will enable you to offer an improved customer service experience.
TELUS eClaims is one of the most used point-of-care submission systems in use in Canada today, and now, Owl Practice offers it as a built-in service!
How It Works
TELUS eClaims is a feature available to all Advanced and Professional plan members.
To get started, all you need to do is connect your TELUS and Owl Practice accounts. You can do this through Manage > eClaims > TELUS Profiles. For more detailed instructions on how to get eClaims set up, you can visit our comprehensive support pages.
Once you have fully set up TELUS eClaims for your practice, you can add your clients’ coverage to their profiles in Owl Practice. Much like how our Circle-of-Care system incorporates details like family relationships and payment details, you can see a client’s coverage info right in their profile. Of course, you’ll need to obtain consent from your clients to submit their information to the Owl eClaims portal. Once you have that consent, it’s easy to add and manage their coverage.
After a client has a session or accesses a service at your practice, you can create a claim request inside their client profile. This process is as simple as filling out the type of claim request—either pre-determination or payment—from their eClaims page. Put in all of the information required, and you should see a confirmation that the claim was submitted.
You may want to give your clients a “heads up” that they may see a delay in their claims being processed and the money being deposited into their bank account. If they have any issues, they should contact their insurance company directly.
TELUS eClaims works with many insurance providers across Canada. The current list includes:
- Canada Life
- Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance (Johnston Group)
- CINUP (Johnston Group)
- Desjardins Insurance
- First Canadian (Johnston Group)
- GroupHEALTH (Manion)
- GroupSource (Manion)
- Industrial Alliance
- Johnson Inc.
- Johnston Group Inc. (Johnston Group)
- Manion (Manion)
- Manulife Financial
- Maximum Benefit (Johnston Group)

TELUS is continually working on adding more insurers, so you may see updates to this list in the future.
